Application fees
Cost to access information
A formal application for information under the GIPA Act costs $30. There may be extra charges, such as a $30 hourly fee, if your request takes more than one hour to process.
After we review your application, we may ask you to pay a deposit of up to 50% of the estimated processing cost before we continue.
We may not be able to process your request if you don’t pay the deposit. We’ll contact you to explain any fees and how to pay once we receive your application.
We usually release the information you’ve asked for when you have paid the full fee.
You can ask us to reduce or waive the processing charges if you’re experiencing financial hardship, or your request is for a special public benefit.
We’re always available to talk things through first. Please contact the HPCA Information and Privacy Officer before lodging a formal application, as we may be able to help you without the need for a formal request.
The NSW Information & Privacy Commission can give you more information on fees and charges for GIPA applications. Visit the IPC website or call 1800 472 679 for details.
Please email our Information and Privacy Officer about any questions you have for us.
If you choose to make a formal application, you can apply online.
Subpoenas and court orders
The process for subpoenas and GIPA access applications is different. If we receive a subpoena or another court order requiring us to produce documents, we must follow the legal requirements of that order.
Subpoenas are managed under court rules, and the fees and timeframes are also different from GIPA applications.
If you need to serve a subpoena or other legal document on us, please refer to our Guide to serving subpoenas for information about the process and costs.
