Stina Wangqvist suspended by Osteopathy Council of NSW

The Osteopathy Council of NSW has suspended the registration of Lennox Head osteopath Stina Wangqvist as of 19 June 2026 effective immediately.
As reported, Ms Wangqvist has been charged with producing child abuse material, and animal abuse offences.
The Council has obligations to protect the health and safety of the public and maintain community confidence in the osteopathy profession and this matter was urgently considered today.
The suspension is now recorded on the national and publicly available register of practitioners managed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

Ms Wangqvist has the right to appeal the Council’s decision before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal or can request the Council review its decision.
About the Osteopathy Council
The Osteopathy Council of NSW manages complaints about registered osteopaths in NSW and works with practitioners to help them practise safely. Its primary legal obligation is to protect the public by ensuring osteopaths practise in accordance with professional standards.
In managing complaints, the Council can place restrictions on a practitioner and monitor these to make sure they are being met. We can take immediate regulatory action to suspend or place conditions on an osteopath’s registration when we consider there is an unacceptable risk to public health and safety or that it is in the public interest.
Health regulation in NSW operates differently to other states, with 2 regulators – the HCCC and each Health Professional Council – working together to manage concerns about registered practitioners’ conduct, performance and health. The HCCC also has investigatory powers and can prosecute practitioners. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) registers practitioners in all states and National Boards set the standards that govern each profession.
